Celebrate the opening of our fall exhibitions with Caribbean cuisine, an artist talk with exhibiting artist Anique Jordan, and hands-on art-making. The afternoon also features "Desires Are Needs" by Farhia Tato, an improvisational poetry and sound work exploring history and memory across time.

Join Oakville Galleries’ Interim Executive Director, Jenifer Papararo with Public Program and Engagement Manager Isabella Springett for a guided walkthrough of Ali Cherri’s exhibition, To Fall, Patiently. Together, they'll explore the exhibition’s central themes of memory, conflict, colonial histories, and our relationship to land and material culture. Visitors are invited to engage with the works, ask questions, and discuss the histories and contemporary issues explored throughout Cherri’s practice.

This will be followed by a viewing of The Ship of Tolerance by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov.

Art Gallery of Mississauga

Inspired by the history of Japanese Canadian fishing communities and the Art Gallery of Mississauga’s current exhibition, Electric Neon Clock, this hands-on activity invites guests of all ages to create their own origami boat.

Pick up a Make Your Own Origami Boat Kit and choose to create your boat in the gallery or take it home to enjoy later. Each kit includes durable, water-resistant paper that can be decorated, folded and even floated!
